The 9th Annual/2013 Run 4 Independence, taking place on the Last Saturday in June – June 29, 2013, benefits Elk Grove Food Bank Services and is our Largest Monetary Annual Fundraiser. Each year families, friends, and competitive runners come together to share in this Elk Grove tradition.

The run features disposable chip timing for the 5K/10K; Age group awards; Team Awards; Short Sleeve Run T-Shirt for 5K runners; Micro-fiber Run shirt for 10K runners; flat course; post-run food and entertainment.
Run Times: 8:00 AM – Kids ¼ Mile Fun Run (kids 12 & under)
8:10 AM – Kids ½ Mile Fun Run (kids 12 & under)
8:30 AM – 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run
Proceeds from the Run 4 Independence benefit Elk Grove Food Bank Services (EGFBS), a non-profit dedicated to alleviating hunger, developing programs to build client self-sufficiency, and providing an opportunity for volunteerism. The work of EGFBS benefits over 3,300 individuals from the Elk Grove area every month which equates to almost 40,000 encounters annually.
This event helps to provide support for families and individuals in need. The funds raised at this event will benefit the seven programs of Elk Grove Food Bank Services. EGFBS has been a lifeline and source of hope for countless people who have seen their lives overturned or who have been pushed to the edge due to difficult economic circumstances beyond their control.
Elk Grove Food Bank Services is steadfast in their focus –
- To provide the best food possible to seniors who are making hard choices between food and medication or utilities.
- To supply much-needed nutrients for children to prosper and develop.
- To help families and the homeless that are struggling through tough times.
